Day 1 of 7
It is ten days into March already and I forgot I wanted to challenge myself to complete a list of tasks this month with the theme centered on books, aka a 31 day book challenge. I have a terrible memory so thankfully I use Goodreads to keep track of my books.
I decided to try only a week’s worth of posts on the topic to see how I do. Onward to day one’s topic:
the best book you read last year
I have had this on my “to be read” list for a long time now and just never got around to it until last year. It was one of the few books from last year that stuck with me after I finished the story. There are a few quotes from the book that evoked deep emotion and thought from me when reading.
“We accept the love we think we deserve.”
Simple, yet it blew my mind.
“Sometimes people use thought to not participate in life.”
I found pieces of myself in the characters in the book and it left me feeling more confused. “Who am I?” is something I have struggled to answer the last decade of my life. Ten years I have pondered this question. After reading this book the question was at the forefront of my mind again.
This was the best book I read last year because I read it at the perfect time in my life that I needed it. This book grounded me back in reality and helped me to stop being such a wallflower, ironically.
Have you read Perks yet? I recommend giving it a try.
