Top Ten Tuesday, Birthday Edition

Today’s my birthday so I gave myself permission to not follow the topic for this week. Instead I’m going to compile my birthday wish list of the top ten books I’d love to own sometime soon.

Check out The Broke and the Bookish for this week’s true topic and more info on the ttt meme.

Top Ten Books On My Birthday Wishlist

1. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (yes, the UK one): The Illustrated Edition

Of course any HP enthusiast will have the new illustrated version on their wishlist. I would probably collect any edition if I’m being honest with myself. This series saved me in a way, renewing my love of reading.

2. Pride and Prejudice
: Penguin’s hardback Clothbound Classics series

Another book that I could own all different editions and not think twice about it. This edition would be on display in my future library in my dream home on some bookshelf or another.

3. All Rainbow Rowell‘s books. I’ve only read e-books of her published works to date (except Carry On) but I want to own the physical books.

4. The Penguin Drop Caps. These classics are gorgeous, I’d be afraid to read them but I can get over that. I love the color selection, it would make any shelf pop. I own the letter A so only 25 more to go.

5. Richelle Mead‘s novels. I own the Vampire Academy and most of Bloodlines but I need to fill in the missing books. Her work is fun to read (and reread) and I prefer owning a complete set so I have a few to add to my collection.

6. Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling. She is funny and lovable. I loved her first book so it’s only natural to pick up her second.

7. The rest of the Pretty Little Liars series so I can finish the set in a more timely manner. One of the worst things about reading a series is waiting to get your paws on the next book in the series. I’m not the most patient person so I struggle with this issue often.

8. The Girl in the Spider’s Web (Millennium Trilogy #4). I’m curious–new author, new book.

9. Two Hester Browne novels, Honeymoon Hotel & The Vintage Girl. I’ve read her other books and LOVED them. She’s one of my auto buy authors. I know I’ll enjoy these when I finally get my hands on them.

10. Anything by Laurie Notaro. I’m especially looking forward to Her Horses Invariably Galloped: A Novel coming in 2016.

These are my “will eventually acquire” books. What books are on your own acquisition list?

The Harry Potter Tag

I found it fitting today to complete this tag. Thanks to Summer for tagging me for this post. Happy 35th birthday, Harry, and happy 50th birthday to the queen, Jo.

1. Favorite book?
My favorite book has been Prisoner of Azkaban for the longest time. Three is a lucky number for me so I find it a coincidence that the third book in the series is my favorite. I enjoyed all the backstory in book 3 regarding Harry’s family. I also thought we experienced more of Hogwarts and castle activities thanks to Hermione and the Time-Turner.

2. Favorite movie?
The fourth movie was my favorite, Goblet of Fire. The other schools and the tri-wizard tournament filled up most of the action which was entertaining, also David Tennant *swoon*.

3. Least favorite book?
The last one because I never wanted it to end.

4. Parts of the books/movies that make you cry?
When I read the books certain character deaths had me shedding tears and the same happened during the movies. The scene at the end of book 6, Half-Blood Prince, was one in particular that sticks out.

5. Favorite character?
Hedwig followed closely by Hogwarts. Hedwig, pure and innocent, was with Harry from the beginning to end. She was more than a pet. Hogwarts I felt was truly a character in the book/movie. So much action happened there, and like Harry I looked forward to the return to Hogwarts each year.

6. What would your Patronus be?
I took a few quizzes online to figure this out. The first one said an otter because I’m brainy and adventurous. The next said a dolphin because I am fun and like to help others. I’m not too sure which is more me.

7. If you could have the Resurrection Stone, the Invisibility Cloak, or the Elder Wand, which one would you choose?
The Invisibility Cloak, obvi.

8. What House would you be in?
I would probably end up in Ravenclaw.

9. If you could meet any member of the cast, who would it be?
I would want to meet the trio. It’s too difficult to pick only one member.

10. If you were on the quidditch team, what position would you play?
If I had to be on the team I guess a Chaser, otherwise I’d want to be the announcer like Lee Jordan.

11. Were you happy with the ending?
It is what it is. It was bittersweet.

12. How much does Harry Potter mean to you?
Harry Potter changed my world. I had never before been so immersed in a fictional world like what Rowling created. Simply put–it’s magical.

I tag any potterhead that wants to join.

Fall is for Birthdays

The thirteenth is my birthday (tomorrow for the East Coast) and it is not an unlucky thing for me. My favorite treat is getting coffee delivered to me in bed, forget the breakfast. Last year I was surprised by a latte, and I’m hoping this continues to become a tradition.

My birthday seems to kick off the holidays. Halloween will soon be upon us and then we’ll be gearing up for Thanksgiving. Christmas shopping needs to begin so I don’t get behind. And before I know it I’ll be seeing Busy again and ringing in the new year. Time flies this time of year, which is sad because I miss the fall when it’s gone.
