Each week I ponder the question, where in the world are you? Where has your reading taken you this week?
I am currently reading Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler.
TWENTY BOY SUMMER explores what it truly means to love someone, what it means to grieve, and ultimately, how to make the most of every beautiful moment life has to offer.
Twenty Boy Summer takes place in California on the beach during the summer. California is home to me. I was born in northern CA and spent the first 11 years of my life there. The state is large and diverse. I recommend spending time in different areas if you decide to vacation in the state.
I love reading books where the setting is somewhere I’ve been before. It’s like greeting an old friend again. It also sparks my desire to travel and revisit old favorite spots.

WHERE HAS YOUR READING TAKEN YOU THIS WEEK?
California, home sweet home. Sadly I have lived more years away than there during my childhood. No matter how long I am gone it will always be home. The scenery is calming, the coast is beautiful, and the experiences you have there are worth telling. I spent nearly two days in southern California last summer which reignited my love for my home state. I hope to return again soon.
What blast from the past have you encountered recently?
My train trip’s first overnight stop was in L.A. We spent a little over 24 hours in the city. After unloading from the train we drop off our bags in union station at parcel check in the baggage claim area. (Four dollars for each bag, a great deal). We then get to explore the city without the burden of a bag. Breakfast on Olvera Street, a beautiful view from Griffith Observatory, and then pick up the bags and head to Santa Monica.
The ocean is beautiful. California has been a breath of fresh air. A vegan dinner at RFD of sandwiches and salad. The morning is an early start as we head out to Portland.
