What Do You Read?

fav authorsI was asked what kind of books do you read. Honestly, I’ll probably try to read any genre once. I hop around genres depending on my mood, a mood reader. Most often I find myself enjoying women’s fiction, young adult, literary fiction, or humor/memoir books. The authors above would be some of my favorites. I’ll always pick up their latest work and read it, no matter what; they have earned my trust as a reliable author.

This next group are also on my favorites list but a bit further down. Each author I like for a different reason and it’s hard to narrow down my interests to one specific genre or author. So the following will give you an idea of what I read and which authors reign supreme 🙂

What Do You Read?

World Book Day

I love celebrating random things, especially involving reading, books, libraries, etc. In the UK and Ireland (where my heart/soul resides) today was world book day. World book day’s goal is to encourage children to read. Sharing my love of books and reading is a new life goal I have adopted.

I recently joined a book club with friends abroad, as if I didn’t have enough books in my “to read” pile. I am still ahead on my reading challenge for this year and hope to keep it that way. I am reading my way through the alphabet. Instead of picking title or author I chose to read either for each letter, I think it will make choosing a book much easier. I am currently on the letter E and I am bouncing between two books.

eReads

The first four letters were easy to get through but I think as I go along it will get more difficult to find a book for letters (I’m talking to you Q,X,Z). Here are the letters I have read thus far.

I have 21 more books to delegate to letters, any recommendations? What are you currently reading?

Seeking Creativity

tiny_tot_by_teafunny-d6gi29rI wish I had more creative moments. I cannot remember the last time I went on a “walkabout”. My walkabouts involve a whole day exploring a new place and taking photographs along the way.

I used to go on photography adventures when I lived in Missouri. Now I feel I have more to photograph that I have not seen (new places) but I do not have the motivation to get out there and take advantage of being in this new location. Once spring hits Maryland, I have to get out more and photograph my environment. I know I won’t be here much longer so I need to get my s*** together before I miss it.

Some of my best memories were during a random photo excursion. My excursions usually start at the coffee shop where I get fueled up before setting off on my adventure. Yesterday was the perfect day to take advantage of the nice weather and get some shots in but I did not. I did manage a coffee out though.

One of my last photography adventures took place on my birthday. I spent the day with my sister. We went to the art museum and then the zoo. I managed to be in the right place at the right time and captured the moment below. I thought it fitting to include it in this post since Valentine’s Day is this weekend. One of my goals in photography that I have been working on is finding naturally occurring shapes and letters to capture. My “heart” below is one of my favorite shapes I have collected, plus flamingos are in my top favorite animals list.

What was your last major purchase?

SONY DSC

For nearly a decade I have been taking photographs. It calms me, centers me, and allows me to express myself. Photography is one of my loves.

Three years ago I purchased my first DSLR and haven’t looked back. Usually major purchases involve a mix of buyer’s guilt and indecision for me, but not this time. It was my Christmas present to myself.

In_a_Row_by_teafunny35th_Street_by_teafunnyThis shot is one of my firsts taken in my hometown. I love the simplicity of black and white photos, the whole story of the photo is hidden with the details just beneath the surface. I try to have my camera with me at all times, not knowing when inspiration will hit.

This is a later shot in Seattle that was taken while I was on vacation. It is one of my favorite photos I have ever taken. All of Washington was amazing and perfect to photograph. The Pacific Northwest is my dream destination.

My weakness in photography is portraits. I am never happy with what I manage to capture. Plus, I guess I am not a people person which would be helpful when trying to photograph others.
