My Questions

What is your Zodiac sign? Do you feel that your sign’s characteristics fit your personality? Why or why not?

I am a Libra. I am not sure if I believe in astrology but I would take Professor Trelawney’s Divination class if I were to attend Hogwarts. I think when we look at our horoscope, for example, we find the truth within the message instead of taking the message at face value. The same when you think about fortune telling. With that said, I think anything is possible and the subject matter is interesting. Some characteristics of Libra that I identify with: just, diplomatic, balanced, detached, indecisive, & laid-back.

What book were you required to read in school that you loved or despised the most?

I loved reading in school, often finishing work early to have free time for reading. In elementary school I read The Castle in the Attic by Elizabeth Winthrop and loved it. It inspired a deeper love of reading and opened the door for more fantasy books to enter. I despised reading aloud in class because I’m an introvert, I have a quiet talking voice, and I have never liked the sound of my speaking voice.

Do you have a favorite or lucky number or charm? If so, what is it and why does it bring you luck? What ultimately caused you to choose your unique charm?

13 has always been a favorite of mine (the day of my birth) but 7 is my most favorite number. I have always liked numbers; math was my favorite subject in school. There are numerous reasons I like the number seven but one of the biggest is that it is a prime number, the fourth prime number (and 13 is 1+3=4). It’s also a happy number, signifies the colors in a rainbow and days in the week. Read more about the number seven here.

Are there any songs that correspond with and remind you of defining moments or experiences in your life? If yes, what songs bring back memories?

When I hear certain songs they take me back to certain times but not always. It usually happens when I have a significant memory to pair with the song or a stronger memory, for example the song I sang at my high school graduation will forever be in my mind for some reason (a milestone, I guess).

Do you keep a journal? Why or why not?

Yes but I write in it rarely. I need to get back in the habit of using it (I blame technology).

Do you have animals? If yes, let us know all about them! If not, why don’t you have pets?

The Three Amigos.

Not mine but I claim them as my own.

If you could emulate any author, whose writing style would you choose to possess?

This is such a tough question. I think I’d go with either the queen, JKR, for obvious reasons or Jane Austen because she was witty and ahead of her time.

What is your honest opinion of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series?

The books that lived.

What is the very first book or story you remember reading? How old were you and why does the tale resonate with you?

I really can’t remember the first first but when I was twelve or thirteen I read the bible (KJ version), the whole thing. I was really proud of myself because I didn’t know many adults that could say they have done that.

Never in my wildest dreams would I imagine getting recognized for my ramblings on my blog. I am very grateful for the notice by Ms. J. Kristina over at

Bloggers write to satisfy their own needs first, and rarely do we write to please the masses. Which is why getting noticed is a bit shocking and extremely humbling. This award is a great opportunity to build a support system online and the cherry on top is more traffic for my little corner of the blogosphere. I still feel like a newbie when it comes to blogging so being nominated for this award has brightened my spirits and boosted my confidence. I wholeheartedly accepted my reward but a note to my nominees–participation is voluntary. Just because you are nominated does not mean you must join in (but why not, this is FUN).

Thanks again, Ms. J. Kristina for seeing value in my blog content. Your positive energy is contagious. Go check out this aspiring author’s work here. Paying it forward is such a huge, beneficial concept (did you see the movie?, one of my favorites) and I truly believe in karma. Like the famous composers said, “all you need is love.”

My Nominations*:
  1. Incessant Ramblings–random, yes, but with a bit of moxie.
  2. me and my words–insights into human emotion.

  4. Just Someone who likes Film and Books–the blog name got me hooked.
  5. The Gist of Life–her life to do list spoke to me.
  6. Amanda–a kindred spirit because I find myself nodding in agreement while reading her posts.
  7. Second Runnings–life commentary is intriguing to me.
Questions for my nominees*:

  3. What hobby/interest do you wish you had more time for?
  4. Who has influenced you the most and how?

Questions for Me:
  1. What makes you unique?
    1. Everyone is unique because otherwise the world would be a boring place. I’m unique because I embrace the things that make me an individual and I celebrate/appreciate the individuality of others.
  2. What do you like doing, outside of blogging?
    1. One of my favorite activities is reading over a coffee or exploring new locations and photographing my adventures.
  3. Who is your biggest inspiration?
    1. Most would list a person when asked this question but my biggest inspiration is Mother Nature. I love to photograph the outdoors. When I need to clear my head I go for a walk. Most of my thinking is done when I’m wandering between point A and B. Nature also amazes me and my philosophical self surfaces when I spend time in nature.
  4. What is your favorite gadget/tech device?  Why?
    1. I received a Kindle two years ago for my birthday and it has changed my life and the way I think of reading. It makes traveling so much easier and I can read more, anywhere. I still love the feel and smell of an actual book but my Kindle has made my reading obsession much more manageable.
  5. What social media sites do you use, if any?
    1. I frequent most of them. I just started using Instagram (I’m trying to complete a photo-a-day challenge) and I wrote a post about Pinterest.
  6. If you had a theme song, what would it be?
    1. Float On by Modest Mouse, this song is my jam.
  7. If you were able to sit down with world leaders what would you say?
    1. “Can’t we all just get along?” or something similar.
  8. Who is one famous person you would like to meet or have met?
    1. I would love to meet Mindy Kaling. She is wicked smart, talented, hilarious, and a snappy dresser. In another life her and I were meant to be best friends.
  9. Which of your posts are you most proud of?
    1. I am proud of them all, each one is a small piece of me, but a favorite of mine is a recent post, Shutter Bug. I talk about photography, my camera, and include a few photos from the past. This post has inspired me to get back to my hobby because photography leaves me feeling content.
  10. What is one goal you have for your blog?
    1. I am currently trying to update daily and using a journal plan I found on Pinterest. I also do “photo-a-day” and would like to incorporate more of my photos into my blog.
  11. If you could visit any period in time, what would it be?
    1. I would visit England during the Arthurian age. I read this book in high school and this time period has fascinated me ever since.
