The Harry Potter Tag

I found it fitting today to complete this tag. Thanks to Summer for tagging me for this post. Happy 35th birthday, Harry, and happy 50th birthday to the queen, Jo.

1. Favorite book?
My favorite book has been Prisoner of Azkaban for the longest time. Three is a lucky number for me so I find it a coincidence that the third book in the series is my favorite. I enjoyed all the backstory in book 3 regarding Harry’s family. I also thought we experienced more of Hogwarts and castle activities thanks to Hermione and the Time-Turner.

2. Favorite movie?
The fourth movie was my favorite, Goblet of Fire. The other schools and the tri-wizard tournament filled up most of the action which was entertaining, also David Tennant *swoon*.

3. Least favorite book?
The last one because I never wanted it to end.

4. Parts of the books/movies that make you cry?
When I read the books certain character deaths had me shedding tears and the same happened during the movies. The scene at the end of book 6, Half-Blood Prince, was one in particular that sticks out.

5. Favorite character?
Hedwig followed closely by Hogwarts. Hedwig, pure and innocent, was with Harry from the beginning to end. She was more than a pet. Hogwarts I felt was truly a character in the book/movie. So much action happened there, and like Harry I looked forward to the return to Hogwarts each year.

6. What would your Patronus be?
I took a few quizzes online to figure this out. The first one said an otter because I’m brainy and adventurous. The next said a dolphin because I am fun and like to help others. I’m not too sure which is more me.

7. If you could have the Resurrection Stone, the Invisibility Cloak, or the Elder Wand, which one would you choose?
The Invisibility Cloak, obvi.

8. What House would you be in?
I would probably end up in Ravenclaw.

9. If you could meet any member of the cast, who would it be?
I would want to meet the trio. It’s too difficult to pick only one member.

10. If you were on the quidditch team, what position would you play?
If I had to be on the team I guess a Chaser, otherwise I’d want to be the announcer like Lee Jordan.

11. Were you happy with the ending?
It is what it is. It was bittersweet.

12. How much does Harry Potter mean to you?
Harry Potter changed my world. I had never before been so immersed in a fictional world like what Rowling created. Simply put–it’s magical.

I tag any potterhead that wants to join.

Secret or Not

three confessions

  1. coffee confessionSome say I am addicted to coffee and that I drink too much of it. I say rubbish. There are worse things to be addicted to, like drugs or pornography. My obsession with coffee does not currently affect my life in a negative way. I will keep enjoying my daily intake probably until it kills me.
  2. hpI love Harry Potter and always will. It often comes up in my day to day conversations.
  3. I keep my deep, dark secrets to myself. My two confessions might be common knowledge to those that know me and they are two things about me that will never change.
what will you confess?

Top Ten Tuesday, Cool Characters

Top Ten Books Which Feature Characters Who

Paper Towns

 Deserve Their Own Television Show

Margo Roth Spiegelman from Paper Towns is a natural for the attention of being a leading lady. She is powerful and determined which would translate to the television screen as a strong female role. I am thinking a cross of Rory Gilmore and Blair Waldorf–smart, cool, and in charge.
The Help
Minny Jackson from The Help would give Dr. Phil a run for his money. I think she would make an excellent talk show host. Her bluntness is the best thing about her, in my opinion.

The Little Lady Agency (The Little Lady Agency, #1)All of the characters from The Little Lady Agency should have their own show. The adventures that Melissa experiences during the series is a sitcom in the making.

Lisbeth Salander from The Millennium series is tThe Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1)he perfect character for a lead role in an action show. She’s a kick butt now, ask questions later kind of girl. Think Sydney Bristow from Alias or Buffy Summers from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Into the WildAn ideal candidate for a reality TV show would be the character from a nonfiction book like Into the WildChristopher McCandless’ story is one that stuck with me long after reading the book. He could be the host of a nature/adventure show.

  • Peeta from The Hunger Games should have his own show on Food Network.
  • Amy from Gone Girl would be a great new contestant for a Real Housewives of Missouri.
  • Will Grayson, Will Grayson‘s Tiny Cooper may have his own story now in Hold Me Closer but he’d be fabulous in his own television show.
  • Dan Brown’s Robert Langdon would make crime/thriller shows more enjoyable.
  • Hagrid is one character I would love to learn more about from The Harry Potter series. I know I’m not alone.

This Top Ten Tuesday list topic is brought to you by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week yields a new topic and a new list. Thanks for stopping in this week to check out my list*.ttt

*I understand some of these books and their stories have already been made into movies which I have enjoyed. Some stories we can’t get enough of which inspired my list.

Top Ten Tuesday, Checking In

ttt

This week’s topic from The Broke and the Bookish is about checking in with characters from books/series that have ended. Life is suppose to go on, we read other books but the following characters have left their impression. I still think about them and wonder what they are up to now.

Top Ten Characters You’d Like To Check In With

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter, #7)

  1. Everyone wants more Harry Potter, I am no different. These books were a part of my life for a decade so of course they make the list. I would especially want to check in with life at Hogwarts. The Little Lady Agency and the Prince (The Little Lady Agency, #3)
  2. The characters in The Little Lady Agency are spunky, fun, and realistic. I wish I were friends with them. Melissa is smart and sassy, we would be best friends. I loved this whole series and would love to see how the present is treating Melissa.Sisterhood Everlasting (Sisterhood, #5)
  3. I had no idea there was a fifth book, so after reading this I might take this book off this list. I still want to be a part of the sisterhood. I would want to check in with the whole sisterhood.Succubus Revealed (Georgina Kincaid, #6)
  4. Georgina Kincaid is my favorite Richelle Mead series. It was a quick, enjoyable read and I would love to head back to Georgina land.Pride and Prejudice
  5. Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth, need I say more?

Those would be my must check ins but a few others would be:

  • I have yet to read A Shiver of Light but I want Meredith Gentry’s story to never end. An ex–private detective, now full-time princess, Gentry has a life full of adventure.
  • I am always curious what happens next after Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist ends. I would want to hear what Nick’s ex, Tris, is doing these days.
  • After Last Sacrifice we get tidbits of Rose and Dimitri in the Bloodlines series but I would want a more detailed update on their lives after the dust has settled.
  • Robert Langdon (Inferno) where are you now and what conspiracies are you involved in this time?
  • Lisbeth Salander is making a return in The Girl in the Spider’s Web and I don’t know if I am worried or excited.

Well, that’s all folks for this week’s top ten.

What characters would you want an update on? Which books still have you wondering what happened next?

day 4 of 7

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter, #3)

My favorite book of the series was The Prisoner of Azkaban. I do not really know why but I think it was all the back story about Harry’s parents that I appreciated.

I am sitting here trying to remember why I loved this book out of the whole series and I cannot remember why it stayed with me. It has been too long since I have read these. I think I will be reading these again soon and come back and edit this post with an update (a better reason for why I love this book).

Day 3 of 7

favorite series

My favorite series is the Harry Potter books which I discussed yesterday. So today I will talk about some other series that are recent reads which I enjoyed.

Divergent-series-by-Veronica-Roth

So I am late to this series but that won’t stop me from commenting about it. I am glad I didn’t start reading in 2012 because these books are best when read together. I hate waiting between books because I have a terrible memory and by the time the next book is out I have forgotten the plot of the previous. I found this series could have been one long book and I would have enjoyed it more. If you haven’t read it and enjoy dystopian fiction or young adult, I recommend this series to you.

the last year series

I discovered this series last year and it swept me away. It reminds me of a mix between Condie’s Matched series and The Hunger Games. It was slow to start but by page 50 or so I could not put it down and immediately had to download the other three books in the series. It was also published in 2012 so you’re lucky that you can read all at once and not wait to continue the story. The covers are beautifully done and I would read these books again, so highly recommended.
The last series I’ll mention is from an author you probably know from either Vampire Academy or Bloodlines. Richelle Mead is one of my go to reads, I have enjoyed all the books from her that I have read. The Georgina Kincaid series is one of my favorites but Dark Swan is on my to read list, so that might change.
Which series is your first to recommend? Which book series can you not stop obsessing over?

Calling All Muggles

Day 2 of 7

a book you have read more than thrice (three times)

harry-potter-books-LARGE

The only book that comes to mind is the Harry Potter series. If you haven’t read these books yet, I highly recommend them.

Like many Potterheads, I have probably read the books a thousand times especially books one through five. The months spent waiting between book releases was such a torture. I even tried to pass the time between book releases by reading the books out of order, in order, and reverse order.

I have a confession. Since 2007, the release of the last book, I have only read Deathly Hallows two times, total. Crazy I know! I am not sure why I have not read it more and I have had the desire to read the whole series again but it has yet to happen. The last book left me very emotional. It was the end to a decade of my life spent in this fantasy world. Goodbyes are always difficult, leaving this series behind was no different for me. I am not even sure why the books stayed with me the way they still do to this day. At least once a day I have a thought that relates back to Harry Potter. The story was magical and pure. The characters were my friends when I was reading. The setting was somewhere I wanted to visit and experience for myself. J.K. Rowling is an amazing writer for inspiring such love for these books in her readers. I am very thankful that she made reading cool again, and continues to do so today.

Which book do you read over and over again? Have one that means the world to you?

Pinning Down My Interests

My current favorite website is Pinterest. I was a hardcore pinner a few years ago but my obsession gradually dwindled. The need to bookmark random information comes and goes but my love for the website stays true.

Back in the day before the internet I used to make collages from magazine clippings much like Oprah’s vision boards that were all the rage. A hard copy of my favorite Pinterest board sounds great right now but pinning online saves paper. Plus my interests vary so much I can change my focus whenever I choose.

My busiest board is full of places I’ve been or dream to go.

My first pin points to one of my favorite interests.

And you can check out the rest of my pins too.
